INVESTMENT READINESS · NOVEMBER 2026

Current stage and next milestones.

Development stage

Proposed institutional collaboration and feasibility

Development basis

One Health proposition joining diagnostics research, human and wildlife surveillance, potential research activities in Entebbe and subsequent diagnostic manufacturing and related services in Northern Uganda.

Next evidence and decision

Agree scope and institutional roles with proposed counterparts; validate demand, regulatory and quality-system requirements, technology options, operator capability, technical feasibility and phase-specific finance.

Partners and capabilities sought

Diagnostics and research institutions, wildlife health specialists, quality and regulatory advisers, manufacturers, specialist operators and healthcare investors.

UVRI and UWA are proposed collaborators. No partnership approval, operating diagnostic facility or manufacturing licence is claimed. Investment terms, funding and regulatory approvals are assessed for each project and must be confirmed through separate arrangements.

THE PROPOSED PROGRAMME

From research to local capability.

WRC is developing a One Health investment proposition for collaboration with the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and other appropriate partners. It brings human, animal and environmental health considerations into one development framework.

Entebbe · Research and development

A proposed diagnostics research and development phase, with technical collaboration to be agreed with UVRI and relevant specialists.

Northern Uganda · Manufacturing and services

A proposed later phase for diagnostic manufacturing and services, alongside wildlife treatment and surgical capability where justified by technical and operational planning.

WHY THIS BELONGS IN AN INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO

Build skills, supply capability and resilient services.

  • Develop technical and scientific employment opportunities.
  • Explore local diagnostic manufacturing where quality, demand and economics support it.
  • Assess regional supply opportunities for appropriate products and services.
  • Connect wildlife surveillance and health capability with responsible tourism development.
  • Create opportunities for training, research and specialist operational partnerships.

The commercial case will need to establish customers, product scope, quality systems, technology, operating costs and the appropriate approvals.

WHERE THE PROGRAMME STANDS

A collaboration proposal in development.

The proposed Entebbe research phase and subsequent Northern Uganda manufacturing and services phase remain subject to further engagement and investment development. Institutional roles, technical scope, financing and implementation arrangements remain to be agreed.

UVRI and UWA are identified as proposed collaborators in this programme. Their inclusion here does not represent confirmation of programme approval or funding.
